ICOF Chaplains Commission Review Board (CRB)

We warmly welcome you as you begin your journey with the ICOF Chaplaincy. Below is a detailed outline of the procedures for your application, assessment, testing, and credentialing.

Application and Assessment Process

 

  1. Complete the Chaplain’s Application. Please note that a fee of $250 must accompany your initial application. This payment will be applied toward the total program fee of $750.

  2. The Commission Review Board (CRB) will review your application and assessment.

  3. If further evaluation of your application or assessment form is needed, it will be sent for additional review. Otherwise, the results of the application and assessment review will be communicated directly to you as a chaplain candidate.

  4. The CRB will send a letter notifying you of your acceptance into the program and your determined rank.

  5. Upon acceptance, you will receive the Chaplain’s Manual and relevant tests.

  6. Completed tests will be graded and submitted back to you.

  7. To graduate from the program, a remaining balance of $500 is required.

 

Program Fees and Included Benefits

 

The total fee for the program is $750. This fee covers a range of materials and benefits, which are listed below:

  • Welcome Letter

  • Certificate with ID number and rank

  • ID Card

  • Listing on the website (currently on the AAHEA site)

  • Certificate from Life College and Seminary, granting 30 CEU credits

  • Gold, jewelry-quality badge with your name, ID number, and rank

  • Original copy of the Chaplain’s Color Manual

  • If delivery is outside the country, an additional $50 fee is required

 

Important Note

No chaplain candidate will be approved for chaplain status until the full program fee of $750 has been paid.

ICOF Chaplaincy Training Program

Chaplaincy is more than a title or credential—it is a calling to provide compassionate presence, attentive listening, spiritual support, and hope to individuals facing illness, grief, trauma, crisis, loneliness, and other life challenges.

The ICOF Online Chaplaincy Training Program equips Christian ministers and leaders to serve effectively in chaplaincy roles through biblically grounded, compassionate, ethical, and practical instruction. Participants gain the knowledge, skills, and confidence needed to provide professional spiritual care in a variety of ministry and community settings.

 

Through a partnership between ICOF and SAMSB, participants complete a structured online learning program through SAMSB.com while fulfilling all training and certification requirements established by ICOF.

Participants will:

  • Develop a biblical foundation for chaplaincy ministry.

  • Learn effective skills in spiritual care, active listening, crisis response, and compassionate presence.

  • Gain practical tools for ministering to individuals experiencing grief, illness, trauma, loss, and life transitions.

  • Understand ethical standards, professional boundaries, and chaplaincy best practices.

  • Build confidence in serving in hospitals, healthcare facilities, correctional institutions, emergency response settings, workplaces, community organizations, and other outreach environments.

  • Receive structured online training that can be completed at their own pace.

  • Fulfill ICOF chaplaincy training requirements and prepare for credentialed chaplaincy service.

  • Expand ministry opportunities by serving beyond the traditional church setting.Serving
